Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo this morning reported that Apple is readying a new generation of Apple Vision Pro headset, set to go into production in the second of half of 2025.
The new Vision Pro would apparently not change much in terms of general specs and design, but would be upgraded to be powered by the M5 chip, a significant jump from the M2 that shipped in the first-gen model.
It’s unclear if Apple will attempt to bring Apple Intelligence features to the first-gen headset in the future, as Apple has not officially confirmed the software roadmap for the device.
However, the Apple Vision Pro is powered by the M2 chip, and M2-powered iPads and Macs do support Apple Intelligence. 9to5Mac has also found code references that indicate Apple Intelligence integration for the Vision Pro is underway.
With a significant processing power upgrade in the form of the M5 chip, Kuo says the second-gen Vision Pro will be able to offer the “best Apple Intelligence user experience’. At this stage, it’s unclear what this means though.
It doesn’t seem like the price point of the M5 Vision Pro will change much from the first-gen, which is pitched starting at $3,499. Separately, Apple is believed to be working on a significantly cheaper entry-level ‘Apple Vision’ headset device.
