Google introduced Gemini’s voice chat mode, called Gemini Live, with the Pixel 9 series earlier this month. The new mode supports natural language conversations, allowing you to have an eerily realistic chat with Gemini on almost any topic. You can even interrupt the AI chatbot mid-response without waiting for it to finish talking or tapping the screen to change topics.
In addition to the conversational improvements, Google has introduced ten new voices to make the Gemini Live experience even more realistic. The collection features voices with different characteristics, accents, and pitch ranges, including:
- Ursa: Engaged, Mid-range voice
- Nova: Calm, Mid-range voice
- Vega: Bright, Higher voice
- Pegasus: Engaged, Deeper voice
- Orion: Bright, Deeper voice
- Orbit: Energetic, Deeper voice
- Capella: British Accent, Higher voice
- Lyra: Bright, Higher voice
- Dipper: Engaged, Deeper voice
- Eclipse: Energetic, Mid-range voice
If you have an older Google Pixel or Samsung Galaxy device that supports Gemini Live, you can try out the new voices by navigating to the Gemini Settings and selecting Gemini’s voice option. Note that this option will only appear if your first language in the Google app settings is “English (United States),” and you have an active Gemini Advanced subscription.
