- Gemini will soon be able to analyze your Nest camera’s feed to offer more descriptive captions and annotations.

- Gemini will also enable a new, more natural conversational experience for the Google Assistant in the home context.
Alongside the launch of the Google TV Streamer and the Google Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen today, Google has also announced upcoming Gemini integrations for Google Home that will unlock new capabilities and greatly improve your smart home experience. The company plans to utilize the powerful language model to help you make the most of your security camera feed, simplify home automation, and enhance the Google Assistant experience.
Starting later this year, Google will begin using Gemini to analyze the video feed from your Nest cameras and offer more descriptive captions with annotations for new clips.
The Gemini integration will even let you search your camera history using natural language prompts, making it easier to look up clips showing specific events.
Google says that it even plans to equip Gemini with the ability to identify important events that need your attention and filter out notifications for other, less important events. However, this feature will likely arrive at a later date.
Along with the camera-related enhancements, Gemini will also simplify setting up new home automations. Currently, creating new Routines in Google Home requires a basic understanding of if this and then that rules.
With Gemini, Google aims to eliminate this need by allowing users to set up new home automations using natural language prompts. This will lower the barrier for entry and allow more users to experience the benefits of home automation.
Lastly, Google plans to use Gemini to supercharge the Google Assistant in the smart home context. As part of this, the company will introduce a new, more fluid voice with better pacing and cadence that will be more comfortable to talk to and offer a natural conversation experience.
The updated Google Assistant experience will be able to maintain the context of the conversation and let users follow up with contextual questions or thoughts. This new experience will roll out in Public Preview for Nest Aware subscribers later this year, followed by a broader rollout next year.
